Nursing Home

The Wikipedia defines a nursing home as a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Residents of nursing homes include the elderly and younger adults who need medical or rehabilitative care.

Nursing homes offer room and board, as well as the expert care of nurses, nursing aides and assistants; physical, occupational and speech therapists; social workers and recreational assistants. Nursing home residents typically live in single or shared rooms, although they still share community rooms for planned daily activities, social events and dining.

In the United Kingdom, nursing homes are regulated by different organizations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Nursing homes in England are regulated by the Commission for Social Care Inspection; in Scotland, the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care; in Wales, the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales; and in Northern Ireland, the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority in Northern Ireland.
